Home Ice Victory for Weber Electric
The Weber Electric Peewee Team hosted Normanby on October 22nd and their hardworking team effort produced the first victory of the season for this team.
Connor Johnson's hat trick and the amazing efforts of his team mates held off visiting Normanby and sent them home with a loss to open their season. After last weekend's back to back losses the team was anxious for a win. It is obvious that the player's, even without a midweek practice, are starting to work together and rely on each other's strengths and abilities. Johnson provided a 2-0 lead after the first period, with Curtis Al, Drew Cobean, Jared Pletch and Joel Pletch with assists on Johnsons first 2 goals. Normanby would reply with 2 quick goals to start off the 2nd period but Drew Cobean's goal assisted by Scott Eddyvean and Jared Pletch would regain the lead. Cobean added his second of the game shorthanded, and unassisted while clearing the puck from the Walkerton zone seconds before the end of the second period. Johnson added to the lead midway in the third on a pass from Joel Hillyer and Al. Jared Pletch would add a nice cushion at the 3 minute mark, assisted by Cobean and Eddyvean. Holding off the offence and insuring the win were defence Georgina McKee, Thomas Crummer, Ben Schmidt and Goaltender Trevor Dillon. Dillon was solid between the pipes to earn the win for Walkerton.
