Weber's Tie League Leading and Undefeated Mildmay
The Walkerton Weber Electric Team were somewhat hesitant about meeting the league leading Mildmay Monarchs in their first match up of the season. Walkerton hosted Mildmay on Saturday January 14th and wasted no time in showing their visitors that they had came to play.
With less than 2 minutes played in the opening period Drew Cobean scored on a pass from AP Will Schmidt. Cobean then scored his second of the game on a pass from Goaltender Trevor Dillon to make the score 2-0 Walkerton. Mildmay narrowed the lead in the closing minute of the period. The second period was scoreless with great offensive and defensive hockey demonstrated for the fans. Walkerton's Joel Hillyer added a goal to take a 3-1 lead, assisted by Cobean and Jared Pletch. Mildmay replied shortly thereafter closing the gap to one. Mildmay would tie the game at the 6 minute mark and both teams held on pleased to end in a tie game.
Walkerton's tie ended Mildmay's winning streak in league play.
