Hanover Tournament "B" Division Champions!
Walkerton's Weber Electric Peewee Local League participated in an 8 team tournament hosted by Hanover January 21st.  At the end of a long day Weber's earned the "B" Division Championship.

Walkerton began tournament play against the South Huron Sabres.  In a very strange game, Walkerton was defeated 8-5 and had 3 players ejected from the game.  It was a disappointing loss but the 8 skaters remaining were determined to give it their all for the second game with 3 very devoted and encouraging teammates watching from the stands serving a one game suspension.    Scott Eddyvean and Connor Johnson scored twice and Drew Cobean earned a single in the loss.  Will Schmidt, Eddyvean and Johnson earned the assists.

In the second game against Elmvale, where Weber's had more coaching staff on the bench, then extra skaters, the team played their heart out and after three periods the scoreboard was tied at 5.  A shootout followed.  The two shooters for Walkerton, Connor Johnson and Curtis Al scored,  while at the other end Walkerton's goaltender Trevor Dillon shutout the opponents and earned the victory.  During regular play Johnson scored a hat trick, Will Schmidt, Jarrod Pletch and Joel Hillyer had singles.  Joel Pletch picked up 2 assists, Joel Hillyer, Jarrod Pletch, Johnson and Schmidt each had one assist.

With a one game rest, and a full roster Weber's faced Walkerton's Prestige local league team for the trophy.  These teams have been evenly matched all season and everyone new it would be a fan pleasing game, and they certainly weren't disappointed.

After a scoreless first period Drew Cobean opened the scoring for Weber's but Prestige replied to tie the game heading into the third period.  Scott Eddyvean scored to take the lead again for Weber's assisted by Cobean.  Prestige would rally to tie the game and yet another shootout.  Both teams sent out 6 shooters before a goal was scored for each team, Will Schmdt for Weber's and Brett Wagner for Prestige.  The red hot goaltenders Trevor Dillon for Weber's and Calder Davidson for Prestige were unbeatable to that point.  The seventh shooter for Weber's, Joel Pletch also slipped the puck past Davidson and Dillon turned away Prestige's 7th shooter to earn the Championship Trophy for Weber's.  Walkerton certainly provided an excellent display of hockey and both teams are to be congratulated.
