Half Way Home With Today's Win
The McIntee Atom Rep Boys travelled to Blyth today to play the first game of a home and away series.  WOAA Round Robin Play has 5 home and away series scheduled for each of the 12 teams in the Cruickshank Division.

After a great season of play the McIntee Atom Rep team earned the maximum allowable 1000 points with 20 games and 20 wins.  They now play off against 3rd place Durham, 5th place Seaforth, 7th place Mildmay, 9th place Blyth and 11th place Mitchell in a home and away series with each win earning 2 points.  Today's victory against Blyth brings Walkerton's tally to 10, out of a possible 20 points.  The winner of the "odd" pool will play the winner of the "even" pool for the WOAA Cruickshank Division title.  Earning 894 points, with only 2 losses (to Walkerton) Minto leads the "even" pool which includes Kincardine, BCH, Saugeen Shores, Drayton and Mount Forest.

In today's game Dakota Wieler and Austin Kelly led the way with 2 goals each.  With a short bench Walkerton was unable to score until late in the 1st period when Kelly took a pass from Tristan Zettel and found the back of the net.  Weiler scored twice in the second and Evan Visser added an unassisted goal to give Walkerton a 4-0 lead heading into the third period.

The Capitals have always proved their strength is in the third period, and today's game was no different with Goaltender Aidan Quish standing strong in net and his team mates adding four goals in the third to win 8-0.  Scoring in the third were Kelly, Drew Cobean, Brayden McKenzie and Hunter Zettler.  Cobean also had 2 assists in today's match and Visser and Weiler each had one.

Blyth returns to Walkerton on Friday night for the rematch.  Walkerton will travel to Kincardine Saturday to begin a 5 game series against the Kinucks for the WOAA "B" Division title within OMHA.
