Walkerton McIntee Atom Rep - All Ontario Semi Finalists!
What more can you say about this team!  They came down to the final 4 in all Ontario and that is sure something that everyone can be proud of.  Even in the final game they showed great determination allowing only one goal against the strong Lambeth Lancers.

Although last night's loss meant the end to the boy's quest for the OMHA Championship they are still champions to those of us who followed them across southwestern Ontario for the last 6 months.  Division leaders all season long, WOAA 'B" Division Champions, Regional Silverstick Champions, International Silverstick Semi - Finalists, Mount Forest Tournament Champions, Erin-Hillsburg B Division Champions and Durham Tournament Finalists with still an opportunity to win the Cruickshank Division of the WOAA.  A pretty awesome list of accomplishments for a talented group of boys and their coaches.

In last night's game the Capitals came out on fire but were denied a couple of early game goals and then the fun began.  Walkerton played practically the entire 2nd period with at least one player in the penalty box, often 2 and sometimes even 3.  Even the Lambeth supporters had to agree that there was something a "little off" with the refereeing,  which we all know is not an easy job at the best of times.  In any event it made a tough go for the boys who only allowed one goal midway through the second period.  Lambeth is a strong defensive team so scoring 3 on 5 or even 4 on 5 proved to be too big of a challenge.

Goaltender Aidan Quish was outstanding in net.   Defence Dorian Charette, Curtis Al, Sam Lowry-Young and Brayden McKenzie continued to turn away the attackers.  Forwards Carter Buehlow, Drew Cobean, Dakota Weiler, Evan Visser, Jayce Busby, Austin Kelly, Tristan Zettel, Hunter Zettler and Noah Leslie time and time again drove to the net only to be denied a scoring opportunity.  However there were a couple of questionable goals that made it in the net in the last 2 games, but not on the scoreboard.  That's hockey!

So team, way to play.  These boys are to be congratulated - you made us all proud!!!

Now go for the Cruickshank Division WOAA Championship, the golf courses aren't quite ready for you!!!!

Go Walkerton Go!!!
