Walkerton Hanover Vet Clinic, U18, 2008-2009 (Walkerton Minor Hockey Association)

The Walkerton-Hanover Vet Clinic team pulled off a win against Howick. Late in the first period Allan Rogers put Walkerton on the scoreboard. The team managed to hold off their opponents for the rest of the game. They played hard through a number of penalties. Jamie Al had another great game in net.

The team met Saugeen Shores in Southampton on March 5th and brought home another win in OT. Netting goals for the Walkerton-Hanover Vet Clinic team was Braydon Berberick, Sam Eckert, and Paul Gill getting the game winner in overtime.

After a slow start to the playoffs the team rallied with a clean, fast-paced game which resulted in a sweet win against TCD. Chatsworth opened the scoring but thanks to a perfect shot from the point by Mark Zettler the teams were tied at 1 by the end of the first period. Neither team was able to find the net throughout the second period but early int he 3rd Chatsworth managed to take the lead once again. It was a tough loss for the team Monday night as they hosted Saugeen Shores in their first playoff game. While being able to take and hold the lead most of the game, the boys couldn't hold them off and their oppoent was able to score twice with only minutes left in the third period taking the game into OT. Despite all the great efforts, in the end the Saugeeen Shores team took home the win. Netting goals for Walkerton were Allan Rogers and Sam Eckert. Next game is Tuesday night in Howick.

Submitted by the Zettler's. The Walkerton Hanover Vet Clinic Midgets saw lots of hockey action this past week. On Wednesday evening the team travelled to Port Elgin for a game against Saugeen Shores #2 team. After a scoreless first period, it wasn’t until there was 36 seconds left in the second that Logan Kritz was able to weave through several opponents and defeat the Shores’ goaltender. The team continued to play strong and late in the third period, Curtis Robson netted one leaving the game to finish 2-0. Jamie Al earned the shutout.
