Walkerton vs. Wingham Loss 4 - 2
Today our McIntee Atom Rep boys faced off against a strong Wingham team that were determined to finish the season off with a victory. Not knowing if this was a win and advance or lose and grab the golf clubs type of event, you would think the boys would come out flying. However that was not the case, as visions of the spring to come must have been dancing through there heads They looked, and started off the game like a team who was ready for ball season. That being said Wingham marched down the ice on there very first shift of the game, and seemed to score without too much resistance from our boys. Four minutes later they scored again to take a 2 goal lead. After that our boys did seem to wake up a bit as with 3 and a half minutes to go in the period Darian Beglaw poked home the rebound of a Calvin Wilson shot to bring us within one. In the second period Justin Donnelly scored on a Michael McAskill rebound to tie the game at 2. Unfortunately in the 3rd period the penalty bug struck and we had to kill 4 penalties, at one time being 2 men down, this drained the boys of energy and with 6 minutes to play Wingham netted the game winner. They added an empty netter with 17.9 seconds to play to claim the victory. It is unsure at this time if our previous efforts were enough to advance to the next round, but we all hope that if we do the boys of winter return to play, not those boys of summer that laced up the cheese cutters today.
