Walkerton vs. Mildmay Win 3 - 2
Well here it is the last round of group playdowns and we are facing the team who is closest to us, our good neighbours Mildmay. Having been to a final round a few years earlier most of the boys remember the sting of not quite getting it done. This year they want a happy ending. The boys hit the ice with the enthusiasm of the beginning of the season, but by this their 48th game, they are pretty much hardened veterans. In fact I do not think any of the boys have shaved since the start of playoffs, and if you look closely, very closely you might see some 5 o'clock shadow starting. Then again it could be the remnants of an earlier meal. All that aside the boys came to play. Opening the scoring for our McIntee Atoms with just over a minute to play in the first was Michael McAskill on an assist from Justin Donnelly. The second period also belonged to our boys as they netted two more one from Bailey Zettler unassisted with just under 3 minutes to play in the period and one by Calvin Wilson from Kyle Paulitzki and Lucas Bester with just under 2 minutes to play in the period. The 3rd period however the boys let up a bit, this was done to keep the fans interested as Mildmay scored to goals to make it close.
