Snowed in, in London by Kelsey Miller
From February 8th-9th, The RKS Bantam Girls traveled to London for an overnight tournament. They played their first game at 12:00 Friday afternoon, against Central York. It was a close game, with the final score being a tie, 2-2. The RKS girls clearly demonstrated equal skating skills towards York Central, and both the offence (Adrianna Droefke, Sabrina Clark, Jessica Dredge, Erika Weber, Kaitlin Dosman, Cosette Vandenberg, Marisa Dales, and Heather Kelly) and the defense (Britany Gamble, Kristen Ruetz, Kelsey Miller, Claire Tomlinson) did a good job of keeping control of the puck. #11 Adrianna Droefke put RKS on the scoreboard early in the first period, and scored another goal late in the third to tie up the game. The girls played their second game against London late Friday night, still keeping up their energy after all day. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough to win over their opponents, with the final score being 3-1 for London. Goalie Reshay Sullivan played an amazing game, as the puck was most commonly in RKS's end. She had help from defence, (Britany Gamble, Kristen Ruetz, Kelsey Miller, Claire Tomlinson) and clearly demonstrated her well-known skills, tought by coach Steve Dales. #2 Heather Kelly scored the first goal of the night early in the first period, keeping up RKSs hopes of leaving with a win. But London scored twice in the second and once in the third, leaving the score at 3-1 for RKSs opponents.RKSs final game was played against Mississauga Saturday afternoon. They played hard but their opponents were strong skaters and kept the puck in control. The final score was 6-1 for Mississauga, and that marked the end of the tournament for the RKS Bantams. It was a fun filled weekend! The girls enjoyed the extra day at the hotel as closed roads meant they had to stay in London! Written By Kelsey Miller
