Walkerton RKS Play in Howick Tournament by Brittany Gamble
Walkerton RKS vs. Teeswater/BelmoreBy: Brittany Gamble
As soon as the RKS team skated onto the ice first thing in the morningthey could feel the nice crisp ice-air filling their lungs.  They knew that this would be a well played game. And so they started the first period, as game rules state, by the drop of a puck at center ice.

The first period was a very exciting one, lots of  play in the corners and in front of the net.  RKS managed to get a few good shots on their net and amazing goal tending by Reshay Sullivan helped the girls to keep the game tied at 0-0 going into the second period.  There was a lot of hard play during the 2nd period, however the RKS team couldn't hold the Teeswater team off the whole game and Heather Bell (#18)scored an un-assisted goal to make the score 1-0.  However, the girls held them off for another 8 minutes to enter the third period only being down by one goal.  RKS came out pumped and ready for the third period, the goal against them just fuelled the fire.  They came back and tied it with a goal by ErikaWeber, un-assisted. The goal was sweet and well-deserved, but theTeeswater/Belmore team proved too hard and sniped another goal on the RKSteam to make the final score 2-1.

After the exciting first game of the tournament, RKS was ready to face Chatsworth to have a shot at a 3rd game.  The 1st period started with the drop of a puck at center ice.  At 3 minutes and 53 seconds #39 came intoWalkerton's zone and managed to get the puck past RKS net-minder to make the score 1-0.Once RKS recovered from the goal scored against they started to take action and become aggressive.  Chatsworth decided to come back with more than a few hits of their own. But overall, the girls had a great game against Chatsworth, but left the score at 1-0 for the final.  RKS had a great tournament and are looking forward to getting back on the ice to play again.
