Playoff Game 6 vs Huron-Bruce Blizzard (White)
The Walkerton Capitals would play the Huron-Bruce Blizzard (White) on March 9, 2024 in Ripley.  The game would be the first meeting between the two teams since before Christmas and it would feature some excellent goal scoring, strong back checking and outstanding goaltending by both sides.

The Capitals would open the scoring just 27 seconds into the period when Luka Abell skated in and around the Blizzard net and fired a wrist shot just under the crossbar.  Walkerton would increase its lead with just over nine minutes remaining while on the power play when a Luka Abell slapped shot from the point found the back of the net.  Spencer Odell would get the assist on the goal.  The scoring would continue when Kyle Graul took a pass from Marshall Odell near centre ice before splitting the defense and beating the Blizzard netminder glove side.  The Capitals would hold a 3-0 lead after the first fifteen minutes of play.

The second period would start with the Capitals continuing to pressure the Huron-Bruce net.  Colby Schmidt would score early in the period after jumping on a loose rebound and tucking the puck behind the goalie.  Assisting on the goal were Matthew McNaughton and Kyle Graul.  Just before the midway point of the period Kyle Graul would fire a shot from the top of the faceoff circle that would beat the goaltender stick side, Spencer Odell would get credit for the assist.  The Blizzard would score late in the period when a hard wrist shot beat the Walkerton goalie glove side.  The second period ended with Walkerton holding a 5-1 lead.

The third period and both teams would continue battling along the boards for puck control.  The Blizzard would score midway into the period and that would conclude all the scoring for the game.  Walkerton would go onto win the game 5-2.

The two teams will meet again early next week to continue the playoff run.  The Capitals will need the same intensity and drive that they showed during this match.  The passing was crisp and precise.  The boys were skating hard, chasing loose pucks and skating back to break up plays in its own end.
