Game 18 vs Owen Sound Jr. Attack
The Walkerton Capitals would travel to Owen Sound on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 to play the Owen Sound Jr. Attack.  The game would see the Capitals play a strong game with lots of effort from everyone right from the opening faceoff.

The Capitals would control the tempo of the game from the faceoff and would go straight on the attack in the opposition zone.  Luka Abell would open the scoring after skating from behind the net and firing the puck stick side, Jasper Rowe and Colby Schmidt would pick up the assist on the play.  Walkerton would continue to press and two minutes later after some great passing Connor Farrell would score from the side of the net tucking the puck past the goalie after collecting a rebound.  Assisting on the play were Jasper Rowe and Niklas Howald.  The scoring would continue when Kyle Graul fired a writ shot that squeaked under the pads of the Attack goaltender, the assists were credited to Keegan Batte and Curtis Rowe.  Walkerton would score again when Keegan Batte snapped a shot from the top of the faceoff circle that found the top corner in the final half minute of the period. Assisting on the goal were Kyle Graul and Logan Anness.  The Walkerton Capitals would lead 4-0 after the first period.

The second period would start with the Capitals continuing to force the play.  Chase Kaufman would score off the rebound, assisting on the goal were Spencer Odell and Duncan Abell just one and a half minutes into the period.  Owen Sound would fight back and would have several decent scoring chances but goaltender Owen Waddell would stand tall between the pipes.  An Owen Sound player would come in on a break away and fire a shot that between Owen stick side but the puck wrang off the crossbar and into the corner where it was quickly cleared.  Logan Anness would score with just under five minutes remaining assisted by Kyle Graul and Travis Goll.  The Capitals would score on a five minute power play when Luka Abell scored his second of the game with a snap shot from just inside the blueline, assists were awarded to Chase Kaufman and Spencer Odell.  Walkerton would lead 7-0 after two periods in the books.

The third period would see both teams continue battling for puck control and possession time.  The passing game was outstanding as the Walkerton players cycled the puck with precision and skill.  Marshall Odell would score a shorthanded goal when a wrist shot handcuffed the Owen Sound netminder before finding the back of the net.  Jasper Rowe would get an assist on the goal.  The scoring would wrap up when Chase Kaufman scored his second of the game when he went upstairs from in tight assisting on the goal were Spencer Odell and Matthew McNaughton.  The Walkerton Capitals would go on to win 9-0 in an convincing manner but the score could have been much higher if not for some outstanding saves from the Owen Sound netminder.

To say that this was a team effort would be an understatement.  Each and every player was recorded on the score sheet picking up at least one point.  The passing was crisp and on target, players blocked shots, intercepted passes in the neutral zone and played not as individuals but as a team.  The results speak for themselves.   A true team effort.  Owen Waddell would pick up another shutout win and while not facing a  lot of shots was stellar when called upon.
