Game 12 vs Kincardine Kinucks 1
The Capitals would travel to Tiverton on December 11, 2023 to play the Kincardine Kinucks 1 team.  The game would be an entertaining battle with a lot of action coming in quick bursts then followed by play in the neutral zone with some hard-fought battles along the boards.

Walkerton would open the scoring just before the midway point of the first period when Spencer Odell sent a wrist shot over the glove hand of the Kincardine goaltender.   The assists on the play were credited to Travis Goll and Keegan Batte.  The Capitals would hold off a couple of late breakaways from Kincardine to hold a 1-0 lead after the first fifteen minutes.

The frenzied pace would continue into the second period and again Walkerton would increase its lead when Niklas Howald fired a shot from just inside the blue line that made its way through a maze of legs to find the back of the net.  Two minutes later Walkerton’s Spencer Odell would record his second goal of the game after taking a pass from Matthew McNaughton and catching the inside of the post.  The two teams would continue to battle back and forth but as the period concluded it would be Walkerton holding a 3-0 lead.

The third period and again the action was non-stop.  The Capitals would find themselves down two men as Kincardine pressured the Walkerton net while on the powerplay.  Walkerton would use its three men clearing the puck on numerous occasions that would make the Kinucks regroup and set up again with the attack only to be pushed out by the Walkerton penalty kill.  Kincardine would score late after a goalmouth scramble and with time winding down pull its goaltender for an extra attacker.  The Capitals would shut down the late surge and skate away with a 3-1 victory.

Another hard fought battle but Walkerton and its fine play has kept its undefeated streak going now up to 12 games.   The team is playing good hockey but utilizing a strong skating game making the most of its scoring opportunities and its fine defensive play to help shut down the opposition chances.
