Game 9 vs Saugeen Shores Storm 1
The U18 LL Capitals travelled to Southampton on Thursday, November 30th to play the Saugeen Shores Storm #1 team.  The game would be hard fought between the two teams that would feature some outstanding saves from the two goalies and some highlight goals.

It would be Walkerton who would open the scoring just 50 seconds into the first period when Marshall Odell jumped on a big rebound and fired the puck into the Storm net.  Luka Abell would get credit for the assist on the play.  Saugeen Shores would respond just over a minute later when a quick snap shot pulled the Storm even just over 2 minutes into the game.  Saugeen Shores would then take the lead with just under 2 minutes remaining while on the power play and would take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.

The second period would see Walkerton tie the game in the opening minute when Spencer Odell lifted the puck past the Storm netminder with two defenders draped all over him.  Travis Goll would pick up an assist on the play.  The Capitals would go ahead several minutes later when Keegan Batte found the back of the net and buried a hard one timer.  Travis Goll would pick up his second assist of the game.  Walkerton would lead 3-2 after 30 minutes.

The two teams would continue to battle as the third period got underway and both teams would have some great scoring opportunities early. Both teams would hit goal posts/crossbars and several key saves would keep the game a 1 goal affair.  The Capitals would score late when Chase Kaufman maneuvered past a defenceman and out waited the Storm goaltender before firing the puck into the open side of the net after taking a pass from the point.  Matthew McNaughton and Spencer Odell would pick up the assists on the goal.  Walkerton would control the final few minutes of the game with some great passing and work along the boards.

The two teams played hard from the opening faceoff until the final buzzer.  Timely scoring, strong goaltending and hustle from both teams made for an entertaining tilt that everyone in the crowd would enjoy.
