The Walkerton Midget Girls were in Mount Forest this past weekend for the Mount Forest Girls Classic Tournament.
Friday had 2 games scheduled. The morning had The Caps paired with the Mount Forest C Girls in MF. A good game with both teams competing hard and the result would reflected the hard fought Tie.
The Harriston Community Center would host the Girls for the Second game of the day as they played the Mount Forest Girls B team. Great defensive play and goaltending kept the score low but the girls were unable to capitalize on their chances and they were defeated by the Rams, 2-0.
Saturday saw the third game of the round robin having the Caps play the Ennismore Eagles B team, (Kawartha Area) back in MF. The Girls were "Tenacious" and never gave up, leading twice in the game before a late goal in the 3rd by the Eagles became the eventual game winner. The Final was 3-2.
Saturday afternoon paired the Capitals in a semi-final match, once again versus the Mount Forest Girls B again in Harriston. The girls played with a lot of "Spontaneity" and never gave up on the game or each other. The puck did everything but find the back of the net and the Girls were eliminated from the tournament in another 2-0 loss.
Although not successful on the scoreboard, the girls had a great weekend on and off the ice", Coach Troy stated. "They have improved as a team and as individuals and the staff looks forward to seeing them improve".
The Girls will next play the Lucknow Sepoy's Saturday in Walkerton at 4:45pm, they will also continue to practice as they prepare for
Kitchener Lady Rangers Fall Fest Tournament the following weekend, November 24th-26th.
