The Walkerton Capitals would play host to the Hanover Falcon
Team #1 in a rematch from a game earlier in the month. The two teams would play a spirited game
with each having several golden scoring golden opportunities.
The first period and each team would come out strong. Speed and crashing the net were the order of the day. Both teams would test the oppositions goaltender but each net-minder was up to the task.
The second period was much of the same. The two teams continued their back and forth battle. Hanover would run into penalty troubles late in the period but strong defensive play limited the time the Capitals would keep the puck in the Hanover zone. The Falcon’s would kill off the penalties and after two periods the game was still scoreless.
Walkerton would start the third period with continued pressure. The pressure resulted in the puck sliding past the goalie only to ring off the post. Hanover would open the scoring 5 minutes into the third period when a two on one and a beautiful saucer pass found the back of the net. Hanover would then score 5 minutes later and again with 26 seconds remaining to hand the Capitals its first loss of the season.
The game was a solid performance by all. The Capitals played a strong two way game, pressure while in the offensive zone, solid back-checking and defensive play and fine goaltending.
