The Walkerton Capitals travelled to Drayton on
February 22nd, 2017 for a game vs. the Drayton Defenders Black
team.
Drayton would come out quickly right from the opening face off. Just before the two minute mark a Drayton forward jumped on a rebound and tucked the puck into the Walkerton net. Walkerton would pick up the pace but were able to pull even as the first period came to a conclusion.
The second period started much the same for the Capitals when the Defenders would increase their lead just 34 seconds into the frame. Drayton would then score two minutes later when a rebound was slid into the net to increase the score to 3-0. The Capitals would continue to fight back and would score with just over four minutes remaining when Travis Goll put a high wrist shot over the goalies glove and into the net. Walkerton would trail 3-1 after 20 minutes.
As the third period started Drayton would score just before the five minute mark when a Drayton forward would fire a shot on net and pick up his own rebound to put the game away. The Capitals continue to fire pucks towards the opposing net but were having trouble hitting the mark this evening.
Drayton took advantage of some timely goals and used rebounds to their full advantage. The Walkerton boys tried their best but would come up just short in this game. With a home and home series this upcoming weekend the boys will need to dig deep to bring home a couple of wins.
