The Walkerton Capitals Novice Rep Team opened their regular
season on a high note this past weekend when they travelled to Hanover to take
on the Falcons.Walkerton and Hanover played an even first period with Hanover coming out on top with a score of 1-0.
The second period Walkerton started to put on the pressure and tied it up half way through the period with a great goal from Ethan Smith, assists from Josh Dales and Dylan Cartwright. With only 15 seconds to go in the second period Josh Dales poked in the puck on a rebound in front of the Hanover keeper.
The third period saw scoring attempts at both ends of the ice. Some solid goalkeeping by Ryan Hinsperger and great efforts from the Walkerton defence kept Hanover from getting on the board again.
Josh Dales scored his second of the game with 5 minutes to go in the third with a nice pass from Ethan Smith. Dylan Cartwright put the game away with his first of the season in the final minute of play.
Walkerton showed that they are coming together as a team with great energy and team work from all of the players.
The game scheduled for Monday October 21, 2013 at home versus Mount Forest has been ccancelled and will now be a practice.
