Walkerton Capitals earn 3 of 4 points on the road
The Walkerton Capitals Kinettes Midget Rep Girls visited Zorra Fuzion on Saturday, December 22nd at 6:30 p.m., for a rematch.  This game opened quickly for Zorra as they scored 58 seconds in the first to take an early 1-0 lead and they carried that lead into the third.

Zorra was penalized with less than 2 minutes left to put the Capitals on the power play.  The Capitals made the most of their opportunity when hot shooter Missy Adams buried the tying goal.  Joelle Busby and Maddy Wright drew assists.  The Capitals left town with a hard fought 1-1 tie.

The Capitals continued on the road with a trip to Huron Park on Sunday, December 23rd at 5:40 p.m. against South Huron.  The Capitals were down 5 regulars and called up 2 Bantams, Dallas Fischer, and Jasmine Thompson.  Both did a great job!  That didn’t seem to faze the girls as they came out with intensity and earned a convincing 5-0 victory.  Alyssa Inglis picked up her 6th shut out of the season.

The Capitals offence got back on track after being stymied for the last 5 games with only 5 goals.  Julie Thomson opened the flood gates with what proved to be the winner with a shot to the blocker side in the first.  Joelle Busby notched the first of her two goals late in the first and midway through the second.  Leah Kittel was the play maker on both goals with some hard work down low.  Kittel scored a goal of her own in the 3rd with a change up from the half boards along the pond.  Ashton Nixon picked up an assist.  Trudy Young rounded out the scoring on a break away in the 3rd with a nice move and shot to the stick side.  Lauren McLean sprung Young with a slick pass through the middle.

The game got a little chippy late in the 3rd when South Huron started to show their frustration and started taking some liberties against the Capitals.  However, Nixon would have none of that and delivered a bone crushing hit at the end to even the score.

The Capitals are off for the holidays and back in action at home on Saturday, December 29th @ 5:30 p.m., against West Huron.
