Legion PeeWees Defeat Wingham in Back to Back Games

     As they wait to continue their WOAA playdowns, the PeeWee boys played Wingham in two exhibition games

The Walkerton team travelled to Wingham on Thursday Feb. 2, and defeated the home team 2-1.  Walkerton fell behind 1-0 in the first, but tied it on a goal by Michael McAskill.  Earning assists were Nicholas Fairminer and Jake Spitzig.  The Legion boys scored the only goal of the second frame with Spitzig tallying at 10:36, assisted by McAskill.  The boys were able to protect their 2-1 lead and posted the win.

     Wingham came to Walkerton on Wed. Feb. 6.  The Legion boys utilized strong skating and fluid puck movement to win 4-2.  After a scoreless first period, MacKenzie McTeer scored at 7:29 of the second on a shot that handcuffed the Wingham goalie.  Tristan Zettel and Jake Spitzig were credited with the assists.  Christopher Cormack scored at 6:33 on a beautiful feed from Hunter Zettler to send him on a breakaway.  Dakota Weiler closed the scoring in the second period on a goal assisted by Noah Leslie and Zettler.  Spitzig sealed the victory in the third on a goal assisted by Leslie and Cormack.  While Wingham responded late in the third with a goal of their own, the boys preserved the 4-2 victory.
 
     The Legion PeeWees will next play back to back games with Minto on Feb. 15 in Harriston, and Feb. 22 at home  This is a continuation of the WOAA playdowns.
