RKS Girls Top Mildmay 2-1
by Andy Cormack
After being defeated by Mildmay two weeks ago, the RKS Bantam Girls met them on their home turf on Sat. Dec. 3. This time the home team prevailed with a score of 2-1.
Emily Cormack opened the scoring late in the first period after picking up the puck in the neutral zone. She rushed, beating the Mildmay defender one on one. The shot went between the goalie's legs and found its way into the net.
Defenceman Michelle Bester went end to end in the second period, scoring a top-shelf shorthanded goal. The girls nursed a 2-0 lead into the third. Mildmay responded with one of their own in the final frame to make the final score 2-1. Charlene Sullivan was strong in net making several key saves.
The girls continue to play impressive hockey and have a record of 7-1-1 for the season. The RKS girls will travel to Markdale on Wed. Dec. 7.
