On Thurs. Jan. 7th, the Godfather's PeeWee Girls hosted the Kincardine team. In a closely contested, fast skating affair the local girls defeated their opponents 2-1. Leah Kittel opened the scoring in the first period, assisted by Joelle Busby and Jasmine Thompson. Their second goal came off the stick of Julie Thomson. Jasmine Thompson got the assist. While Kincardine tried to tie the game in the third, Walkerton played solid defence and fore-checked well to preserve the win.
Defeat Saugeen Shores
Walkerton Godfathers peewee girls took to Saugeen Shores home ice on Monday January 11th. The caps started out a little slow which resulted in a scoreless first period. Immediately after the puck dropped in the second frame, Leah Kittel started the fury of scoring for the squad with a nice wrist shot high in the net. Joelle Busby teamed up with playmaker Julie Thomson for the second goal. Ally Busby assisted the next goal with a nice pass to Joelle Busby. Towards the end of the second,defenceman Maddy Wright took charge as she made an end to end rush to score her unassisted goal. Joelle Busby sealed the victory with 2 additional goals in the third period. Strong defensive play by the caps allowed only 1 shot on net. This 6-0 victory, marks Madison Elliott's tenth shutout of the season!
