Great start to the playoffs!!
And they're off!! Weber's Electric began their playoff schedule, Sat Feb 16th, when they came head to head with Minto. It was an amazing game with two very determined teams battling back and forth.
The first goal of the game went to Minto, in the first period. Weber's watched their chance and evened up the score in the second period, when Max Barclay scored with assists going to Curtis Davidson and Ty Petteplace. Minto then scored the go ahead goal. Caleb Diebold was definitely not going to sit back and take that, so he beat Minto's goalie unassisted to tie the game. Once again it was Minto's turn to take the lead, making Walkerton more determined to put an end to this pattern. With 4 minutes left, Derek Ostendorff smashed one by the Minto goalie, assisted by Max to once again tie the game. With each team fighting hard to take the lead our fearless goalie, Jesse Lamont broke his stick and was defending the net feet first. With two and a half minutes left, Caleb Diebold found the back of the net with help from Curtis Davidson and Ty Petteplace. Luckily, our strong defensive lines of Matt Engel, Chase Louther, Steve Perdue,Josh Konecny and Aaron Hill kept our team alive with their outstanding skills. Walkerton fought hard and maintained the 4-3 lead until the final buzzer eased the tension.
