Minto Tournament
Walkerton's Weber's Electric Peewee boys braved the elements to take part in the Minto Tournament, Sat. Jan 18.  Despite the very early start, the boys were wide awake when the puck was dropped.

The boys were taking on the mighty Minto team for their first game.  They have played against this team in the past with close scores both times.  This match certainly followed the pattern.  Scoring began in the first period when Walkerton got their team on the score board.  Credit to Max Barclay, assisted by Chase Louther.   With plenty of back and forth play, Walkerton managed their second goal in the 3rd scored by Chase, assisted by Max, ending the game 2-0.
The second game was against a very determined Woolwich team.  Woolwich began the scoring with a quick shot in the 2nd period.  Walkerton waited until the 3rd to even up the score, when Aaron Hill sent one on to Max Barclay's stick.  Woolwich then turned up the heat and managed to score the go ahead goal. It was looking grim for our home boys, despite countless chances, ringing cross bars and goal posts. With only 21 seconds left in regulation time, Caleb Diebold sent one home with help from Nick Flett and Matt Engel.  During overtime, the fans were glad there was a defibrillator in the building, as both teams were working hard to end the game.  With only 1 minute left Matt Engel smashed the puck toward the net and with a tip from Max Barclay, cheated the goalie and came out on top.  Amazing goal tending by Jesse Lamont and strong positional play by Derek Ostendorf, Nick Flett and Steven Perdue.
Game 3 was the reason we came, fighting for the top spot.  Bradford being our tough opponent.  Walkerton came out of the gate flying and only 30 seconds into the game had a goal. Sweet setup by Derek Ostendorf for Max Barclay to smack on in.  Period 2 brought another goal for Walkerton by Max, unassisted, making the score 2-0.  Things were looking good for our hard working guys, but Bradford had other plans.  Late in period 2 Bradford snuck one in, this merely wetting their appetite.  Period 3 brought the tieing goal for Bradford despite every effort from all our players.  Both teams were seeing red as they jostled for the puck, but Bradford came out on top with a goal late in the 3rd to end the game 3-2.
Great big thanks going out to our wonderful coaching staff, Coach Dan Davidson, John Louther and trainer Becky Engel.  Also special thanks to the fans from Larsen's peewee team for staying late to cheer on our boys.
Well Done!
