A Close Call for the Capitals
It certainly was a nail biter, Jan 13/08, when Minto arrived in town to take on the Weber's Electric Peewee boys.  Our boys hit the ice with their same drive and determination, but it soon became apparent that we were in for a  close game.

Strong skating, passing and defense from both ends resulted in no score after the first period of play. It was looking like the second period would end in a similar manner, when Minto found a spot with only 48 seconds left in #2.  Soon after the puck dropped in period 3, Walkerton tied it up when Caleb Diebold and Aaron Hill set one up for Max Barclay to send one by.  Only a minute later Caleb scored the go ahead goal unassisted.
Walkerton fired up all cylinders and managed another goal, scored by Max, assisted by Caleb and Steven Perdue.  Minto then found an opportunity to sneak another goal in making the score 3-2.
The Webers boys wanted to help out the nerve wracked fans , so Matt Engel set up a beauty for Curtis Davidson to drive on home.  The extra goal helped ease the tension, but with only 57 seconds left in the game Minto scored to set the stage for a fast and furious final minute.  The hard work of our goalie Jesse Lamont and his team of terminators, Matt Engel, Josh Konecny, and Nick Flett, shut down the Minto team to end the game 4-3.
Keep up the good work fellas.
