Walkerton vs. Goderich Win 3 - 1
Old rivals meet again for the last time with memories of being swept 3 games to nil in the first round of the playoffs and our loss to them earlier this round it was our McIntee Atom Capitals chance to turn the tables and eliminate the Goderich team from the W.O.A.A. playoffs. This was a must win game for both squads so our Refuse To Lose pact would be tested. Before we get to the results of the game I should mention that the Bad News Bears paid us a visit as we had one player show up Just’in time, one player who had no cup to raise in victory, one who left his helmet and silencer at home and finally one who decided to not bring anything at all. Some scrambling by the coaches once again fixed everybody but the one bear who had nothing to start with. Once that was over it was time to play hockey. After a scoreless 1st period Tyson MacLennan netted one with just over 3 minutes to go in the 2nd to take the lead. Drawing an assist on this goal was Matt Lang. No further scoring occurred until early in the 3rd period when Matt Lang scored what would be the game winner from Tyson MacLennan. Shortly after that Lucas Bester also netted one putting the game out of reach. Drawing assists were Bailey Zettler and Justin Donnelly. Goderich netted one of their own later on to spoil the shut out for Ryan Bester who was solid in net once again. Tyler Goetz and Curtis Biesenthal both played well filling in for our missing D-man, while Isaac Elliot played well up front. It is now up to Durham to decide our fate on whether we proceed to the next round.
