The Bantam Boys LL played their second game of 2008 on January 9th in Port Elgin against Saugeen Shores # 2. The boys came out slow in the first period but picked up the pace and started skating harder after they scored their first goal. It was a close game in the first period until Logan Kritz made some nice moves through the other team putting one in the top corner. At the end of the first, it was 1-1. Early in the second Saugeen Shores netted one to go ahead 2-1. Midway through the second Nick Schmidt scored a goal assisted by Derek Merchant. With 2 minutes left in the second period Schmidt netted his second goal of the game. Schmitdt's goal was assisted by Derek Al and Keagan Engel. With only 4:46 left in the period Schmidt got the hat trick with a great passes from Steve Lang and Al (2 assists). The Bantam Boys PWU went on to take the win with a 4-2 victory. PWU goalie Chris Flett was strong between the pipes giving his team a chance to win the game.
