PWU Bantam Boys
On February 2nd the Walkerton PWU Bantam Boys faced off against Wiarton in Walkerton. The boys came out skating hard but in the first minute of play Wiarton scored to put them up 1-0. Shortly after Derek Merchant netted their first goal with assists to Nic Schmidt and Braden O’Hagan. With less than a minute left in the first Schmidt scored to put the home team up 2-1. Assists were from Scott Markauskas and Kyle Scheuerman. But once again Wiarton came back and tied it at 2-2. With a close game going into the 2nd period, the PWU boys came out looking to pull ahead. Just 24 seconds into the 2nd Logan Kritz netted one with assists going to Derek Al and Keagan Engel. Soon after Walkerton’s Schmidt scored his 2nd of the game with help from Merchant and Markauskas. A little later Kritz scored his 2nd of the game with great passes from Engel and O’Hagan. At the end of the 2nd the score was 5-2. Early in the 3rd Wiarton got one to come within 2 but 6 minutes into the 3rd Schmidt got a hat trick with help from Kritz and O’Hagan. Wiarton was not done either and added 2 more goals but PWU was not done either. Kritz also got a hat trick this game with assists from Engel and O’Hagan. Chris Flett kept the boys in the game, making save after save. He also helped them out in their zone with some fancy stick work. At the end of the game the final score was 7-5 for the home town team.
Their next game is Sunday February 3rd against Shallow Lake at 12:30.
