A Heartbreaking Loss to Start the Season
Cuneo Interior Atoms started their season with a heartbreaking loss yet at the end of the game still happy with how they played.
Cuneo played hard and strong throughout the entire game. With fast skating forwards and stay at home defence patrons could see that we are a force to be reckoned with. However, early in the second period Kincardine found one of those few times where our defence was not on their game, scoring the first goal. Working hard and getting plenty of shots off at the Kincardine goalie, we finally found the break that we needed. With passing from Jordan Dahms, to Connor McTeer and off to Connor Johnson, the shot was taken and clipped past the goalie to the back of the net; ending the second period at a one all tie.
The third period was all about shots taken by Cuneo and goals by Kincardine. Throughout the third period most of the game was played in the Kincardine end, unfortunately we could not get any more past the quick gloved Kincardine goalie, not for a lack of trying. The luck of the game laid with the Kincardine team. At three different times during the third period Kincardine was able to find the openings that Cuneo left open.
All in all, the game was heavy handed for Walkerton, but Kincardine definately had talent between the posts.
