Thursday January 17th Game #1
Walkerton at Goderich Loss 8 - 5
Well the playoffs are here and the boys are ready. Unfortunately Game #1 wasn’t much fun. The Zebra’s in this writer’s humble opinion aided the home team by missing a few calls (One Offside, One Icing and a few questionable penalties Capitals 16Minutes vs 8 for Goderich). That is behind us and the boys will have to prepare themselves for a must win second game at home tomorrow night. Tonight’s McIntee Atom Rep Scoresheet reads, well it reads like the Zebra’s were watchin’ a different game than we did. They have the goals assigned to the wrong players so here is my best shot at sorting the whole thing out. Goderich took the lead midway through the first and then added a second shortly after to take a 2 – 0 lead. However Lucas Bester netted his first of the night on an assist from Tyson MacLennan and Tyler Goetz. In the second period Lucas struck again this time getting some help from Bailey Zettler. Goderich scored two more times in the second before Lucas Struck again with just under a minute remaining in the second completing the hat trick. Drawing assists this time was Matt Lang and Brandon Dales. In the 3rd Bailey Zettler netted one on a beautiful set up from Justin Donnelly. However Goderich struck right back again, followed by 2 more within’ a minute as the boys back pedaled somewhat. However after some hard work Justin Donnelly netted a goal on an assist from Bailey Zettler. Goderich scored one last goal on an empty net to close the game. Game #2 is Friday Jan 18th at 6:40 in Walkerton.
