JOYS FALL IN SILVER STICK SEMI 2-1
After a great run as the only B team to go through preliminary play at 3-0, Joys came out flat against rival Mitchell.  Mitchell squeaked in as the wild card at 2 win 1 loss.  Despite being outplayed the Joys boys held a 1-0 lead through the second period and into the third on a goal by Shaun Walsh from Petteplace and Reinhart.  Steven Wilken was the star today with Barclay also a bright light.  Mitchell jambed in a rebound at the 5 minute mark of the 3rd to tie the game.  They took the lead on a disputed goal with just over 2 minutes left.  It looked like Wilken had stopped a shot from the slot and the ref blew the call dead.  As he approached the net after the whistle the puck was found to be in the net and the ref then decided it was a goal.  Mitchell players never reacted to the puck in the net and were initially as surprised as Walkerton that a goal had been awarded.  Poor positioning by the ref was the culprit in my opinion.  The boys dug deep and buzzed the Mitchell net (finally !) but could not get the equalizer in the dying seconds.  Mitchell now advances to the final against either Listowel or Tavistock, both unexpected winners of the other divisions.  Joys continues to gather status as a top flight B team with this fine showing.
