Jan 23rd Game #2 vs. Goderich Tie 3 - 3
Back at our own barn for Game #2 vs Goderich.
The physical play that started in Game #1 continued over to Game #2 as the battle plans were drawn up and the two combatents readied their equipment. Goderich opened the scoring first at the 11 minute mark to take an early lead. Penalties played a big part in the game once again as two of our boys had a mental lapse and caused us to go short handed by 2 for 2 minutes. We almost killed them both off but Goderich netted their second goal while on the PP at the 3 minute mark. In the second period Goderich jumped out to a 3 goal lead at the 13 Minute mark. With a sense of urgency our boys came fighting back knowing that if Goderich was to win this game our OMHA Playoffs would be over. At the 3 minute mark of the 2nd we got our first of the night on a goal by Ryan Young with an assist from Tyler Goetz. After a break between periods our boys came out flying again as Tyler Goetz scored just 28 seconds into the period with an assist from Tyson MacLellan to bring us within one. Then at the 10 Minute mark while on the PP we tied it up on a wrap around goal by Tyson MacLellan with an assist from Tyler Goetz (his 3rd point of the night). Penalty problems took the wind out of our sails late in the game which carried over to OT however Goderich couldn't capitalize on them. Late in the OT period our boys came close to winning the game. If you were to poll the numerous unpaid officials in the stands we did win, however the paid official didn't see it so it was game on. OT settled nothing so the series changes to a points series where first to 4 points advances. Our boys will have to be ready to play on Thursday as we have tio win the next 2. Good game Boys!!
