The Larsen Bantam girls have continued their excellent play this season and have qualified for the OWHA Provincial tournament to take place in Mississauga on April 13-15.
Nine teams battled to secure one of
the 2 spots that will represent our region at the tournament. Pool 1 included Markdale, Bruce Peninsula,
Georgian Shores and TCDMHA. Pool 2 had Walkerton,
Mildmay, Normanby, Kincardine and Saugeen
Shores. In a single round
robin, Walkerton took first place in the pool defeating Mildmay 6-1, Normanby 5-0,
Kincardine 4-2 and Saugeen Shores 8-0.
The second round included the top
two teams from each pool in another single round robin. Walkerton once again
earned the top spot with strong play defeating Bruce Penimnsula 8-1, Markdale
2-0 and Kincardine 3-0.
Larsens have also been competing in
the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League playoffs. They were victorious in the
first two rounds defeating Woolwich and Twin Centre. They now face South Huron
in round three with the victor to take part in the final four championship
tournament that will take place in Mississauga at the end of March.
