Intermediate Girls Finish in First
Sunday, 7 skaters travelled to Lucknow for their last game of the regular season.  With their goalie sick, centre Diane Bushell put on the pads to defend the goal.  The remaining 6 skaters faced Lucknow’s full bench.  Walkerton played a well-disciplined game, controlling the puck and taking advantage of Lucknow’s mistakes.

At the end of two periods, the game was scoreless.  Heading into the 3rd period, Walkerton was down a player due to injury.  With 5 players, the team held off relentless waves of fresh legs from Lucknow.  5 minutes into the 3rd, Lucknow scored two quick goals.

Walkerton lost allowing only two goals from 40 shots.  A pat on the back goes to Rachael and Jasmine on D who never left the ice the entire game.  And a hearty “Well Done” to Stephanie, Chantale, Courtney and Tracy for a gruelling end to end, non-stop game.   The girls left the ice holding their heads high with smiles on their faces; true athletes giving 120% and embracing competition from a tough opponent.  Congratulations to the team for finishing in first place and bring home gold from Provincials.  Good luck next weekend at the year-end tournament.
