Strong goaltending leads Power Workers Union Bantams to big final season game win
The Power Workers Union Local League Bantams ended the season on a high note.  Reed L’s 2nd career shutout and Bryce M’s impressive extra effort short-handed goal were clear highlights of the game.

Walkerton was hosting the hard-hitting Shallow Lake Lakers.  Despite a large number of Shallow Lake penalties the Walkerton team kept their cool and focused on playing hockey.  After scoreless end to end action Walkerton’s Tyler G went in alone and authoritatively found the back of the net with just 1:24 left in the 1st period.  But Walkerton wasn’t done with the period yet.   After passing plays between Austin H and Luke Z, Tyler P found the back of the net with 12.1 seconds left on the clock.

In the 2nd the game became a bit chippy, but Walkerton kept up the pressure and focused on their game.  Mark W slipped in his first goal of two on the night after Ryan Y and Matt L moved the puck ahead.

With Walkerton short-handed to start the 3rd,   Bryce M stole the puck inside his own blue line and fought his way down the ice with the Shallow Lake defense.  But Bryce could not be denied as he slipped the puck under the Shallow Lake goalie to finish a highlight reel rush.  Bryce’s spirited goal seemed to spark something in Walkerton as they answered it with 3 more unanswered goals to finish the 3rd.  Final scoring plays were Luke Z assisted by Brandon D,  Mark W assisted by Matt L and Matt M, with Tyler P finishing things off with an unassisted goal and his second of the night.

Final score was 7-0 for the Power Workers Union Bantams.
