Power Workers Union Bantams take on Saugeen Shores
Energized by a great effort against the strong Tiverton team the Power Workers Union Bantam Local League team moved into Saugeen Shores to test their team work.

Walkerton came out flying, racking up three quick goals in the first period to break a scoreless streak.  First to find the back of the net was Luke Z. powering in from the blue line.  Not to be outdone Matt L. found the netting thanks to the great passing of Ryan Y. and Matt M.  Still in the first period Isaac E. found his scoring touch after some good teamwork from Stephen P. and Tyler P.

Saugeen Shores found their stride, narrowing the lead to two after an early 2nd period goal.  This was a sign of trouble to come as Saugeen Shores dug deep and scored two more goals, showing a great deal of grit and determination.

The PWU Walkerton Bantams showed that they too had grit to match though by digging deep themselves and putting into action some of the drills they learned in practice from Head Coach Jeff Davidson.  By relying on each other and working together Walkerton was able to pull ahead of the hard playing Saugeen Shores team.

First to add another goal was Matt L. with his second of the game assisted by Liam R. and Matt M. with his second assist of the night as well.  Next up was Ryan Y. with a great unassisted insurance goal.  And cementing the win was the team play goal by Stephen P., assisted by Tyler G. and Isaac E. – with the third two point performance of the game.

With this win Walkerton showed themselves that working as a team can make the difference when facing an opponent that is determined and not going to give up no matter what.  The 6-3 win was the first of many expected to come after a couple of tough but well-played losses.
