CMR Wins Consolation at Tourney!
Friday Dec 5 and Saturday Dec 6, the CMR Bantam boys participated in an action packed tournament in Tiverton.  They started off on a sour note against Ripley on Friday night with a 6-0 loss.  The next day they were up and ready for a fight against Saugeen Shores.

They started off very well and were skating hard.  They played an excellent first period and were rewarded when, with 4:35 left in the period, Adam Lindblad got a goal on a nice pass from Nick Flett.  They slowed down a little in the second period and were punished early in the third when Saugeen Shores tied it up.   Walkerton then dug down and found their game with a goal by Tyler Hodgkins, assisted by John Ringel.  They then insured the win late in the third with a goal by Scott Markauskas.  The assist went to Adam Lindblad.

After winning that game, Walkerton advanced to the Consolation final and the chance to win third overall.  Walkerton arrived later on that day to find out they would take on the other Saugeen Shores team.  They played well and made some great passes.  They were rewarded with a goal by Matt Engel who was moved to forward for the final two games of the tournament.  His goal was assisted by Jacob Murphy and John Ringel.  Then a bit more than a minute later, on a face-off in Saugeen Shores end, Walkerton's Adam Lindblad won the  face-off and sent the puck to Paul Lindblad who fired a chest high wrist shot at the net.  It was beautifully tipped by Jacob Murphy off the shaft of his stick right over the goalie's shoulder.   This gave Walkerton a 2-0 lead going into the second period.  They couldn't find the backof the net in the second, but Saugeen Shores did once.  In the third, the boys knew that if they wanted to win, they needed another goal or more because a one goal lead wasn't safe.  Callum Schaus then pinched in beautifully at the blue line and carried it around the net and shot it high over the goalie's pad and between the post and the goalie.  With a 3-1 lead the boys sat back a bit and almost got scored on.  Darren Paulitzki dove to poke the puck away from a Saugeen Shores player and tripped him up.  The player got a shot away and Steve Lang made a great glove save but the Ref called it a penalty shot.  The player slowly skated in only to be poke-checked by Steve Lang.  Walkerton scored another goal by Adam Lindblad with the assists going to Paul Lindblad and Nick Flett.  Walketon played great defensively and throughout the tourney and Braden OHagen was rewarded for his effort when he was named our tournament MVP.  Great Tournament Boys!
