Knights of Columbus Reps, U11, 2008-2009 (Walkerton Minor Hockey Association)

The Knights traveled to Brantford, Friday Feb. 27 to take part in the 28th Annual Walter Gretzky Girls Tournament. A couple girls from the team were on vacation down south, so the girls had to work with various line mates and in some cases, play positions unfamiliar to them. The girls never gave, up which really contributed to their success.

The Knights had to play a series against Mitchell, with the winner qualifying for the Provincial Tournament to be held in Toronto April 17 – 19 of this year. These two teams had faced each other twice in the Regional Silverstick Tournament held in Saugeen Shores earlier this hockey season which resulted in one win each. It was expected to be a contest that may very well go down to the wire.

Last weekend we started playdowns against Mitchell. Saturday we travelled to Monkton to play Mitchell. The score was 2-1 for Mitchell. Jasmine scored the only goal for Walkerton. Sunday they travelled to Walkerton. The score was 2-0 for Walkerton. Claire got the first goal of the game and Jasmine scored the second goal with 15 seconds left. Mitchell comes back to Walkerton on Saturday, Feb 21/09 and we travel back to Monkton Sunday, Feb 22/09. If we play as well as we did on the weekend we should take the next two games. The past weekend we played Wiarton in Walkerton. We lost 2-1. Wiarton forgot their jerseys so we let them use ours. (maybe thats why we lost HA HA). The goal was scored by Jenna and assisted by Jasmine and Claire. Sunday we travelled up to Tara to play Owen Sound and we won 2-0. The first goal was scored by Lily and assisted by Nicole and Hope. The second goal was scored by Michelle and assisted by Jordenne. Our goalie Cassidy had a great game. We are playing next weekend against T.C.D.M.H.A. in Desboro on Saturday and Markdale in Walkerton on Sunday. Hope to see you there.

We are playing in the Saugeen Shores Silverstick this weekend Nov 28-30. On Friday we played Goderich and lost a close game with a final score of 3-2. Jenna scored the first goal and Jasmine netted the second. The Knight's played well but could not come back in the third period. On Saturday we played Mitchell and again lost by a score of 3-2. Jasmine got both goals. Again the team played well, but missed some key scoring opportunities to tie the game up. We are now looking ahead to see who we will play tomorrow, as we can still win Silverstick by going the rest of the way undefeated. Look out ...
