Capitals Tame Wolves
The Walkerton Capitals (Kinettes) midget B girls’ rep hockey team were traveling this past weekend. December 20 the midget Bs were the guests of the Ripley Wolves intermediate squad.

Kicking the weekend off with a bang, the Capitals laid a beating on the Wolves with a lobsided 7-0 score in a make-up league game. Maria Kuntz was able to break away from the pack at 1:10 in the first and snapped in goal number one with a finishing deke on the goalie. The second period provided lots of end-to-end action again for the fans in the stands but the Capitals continued to chip away at the Ripley defense. At 4:22 in the second Janna Reading stepped in from a set-up from Parks and Bell and tapped in the second goal and the score was 2-0.
In the third period the chipping brought on a flood of scoring for the red and blue and Walkerton tamed the Wolves with an extra five more markers on the scoreboard. Bell was able to sneak in a total of two goals for her stats and another assist. Kuntz tapped in her second unassisted goal of the game too at 9:39. Inspired, Smith scored goals four and five. Quietly slogging away in the assists column, Parks had a total of three this game, closely followed by Holly Cameron and Bell each with two. Rounding out the scoresheet was Bourque with an assist.
Mailmen and hockey families generally follow the same creed and nasty weather normally would not keep the Walkerton entourage away from the Ayton rink for their scheduled league game December 21. However, logic prevailed and the game will be rescheduled to another day.  At the mercy of our Canadian winters the Walkerton Capitals (Kinettes) midget B girls’ hockey team have their fingers crossed that they will be able to play their next games December 27 and 28.
