Hat Trick For Grubb
The Walkerton Capitals (Kinettes) midget B girls’ rep hockey team had a peppering of games and practices over the last two weeks hosting Howick/Wallace December 2 and Belmore Intermdiates on the 13th.

In the Howick/Wallace C team matchup Walkerton hit the scoreboard early in the first and tapped in a total of three in the first for a healthy 3-0 lead. Shooters this period were Carolyn Hodgson (assisted by Katrina Grubb and Lauren Bell), Kascha Fischer (Lauren Smith and Claire Ashton) and Bell (Janna Reading and Colleen Parks). Continuing the barrage in the second and third the midget Bs swarmed the Howick/Wallace net once again and sent home a total of four more in the following periods. Adding to the tipped score was the strong defence and a shutout by goalie Alanna Anstett for the Capitals. Shining in the second and third periods with goals was Grubb who recorded a hat trick and Bell with one. Assistance on these goals was provided by Bell, Hodgson, Fischer, Rachael Diebold (2) and Chantale Bourque.
The friendly rivalry between the Belmore Intermediates and the Walkerton midgets was continued December 13 on home ice and fans were in for a real treat of hard fought hockey. Walkerton hit the board a minute into the game when Becky Busby set up Parks for goal number one but Belmore was able to tie things up in the second. A whole new game ensued in the third and once again Walkerton took the lead, at 12:49 thanks to a twine-bender from Bell. Assisting Bell on the play was Smith and Claire Ashton. But, not to be outdone, Belmore finally got that one back too with less than two minutes left in the game. Play was fierce before the final buzzer but neither team was able to finish the other off and both had to settle for a tie.
The Walkerton Capitals (Kinettes) midget B girls’ hockey team are off this upcoming week but Coach Richard Grubb and his bench staff will be putting the girls through their paces before the December 21 league game against the Ayton midget squad.
