Busy Weekend For The Leslie Motor's Novice Team
This past weekend proved to be a busy one for the Leslie Motors novice team. After a hard practice on Friday the local boys took on Durham in a mid afternoon game. This game stayed very close with the boys working very hard until the final buzzer, but the third period proved to be to much when Durham pulled ahead to stay. Scoring for Walkerton was Michael M and Noah L with nice assists from Jordan B, Tristan Z, and Brett W. Ryan G played very well turning away many Durham chances. Evan V, Jayden L, and Cody J once again played steady defence and Thomas C worked very hard on forward.
The next day the Leslie Motors team had a road trip to Mitchell. After the long drive, the boys came out hustling and went ahead early with Noah L scoring on a breakaway unassisted. Mitchell seemed to get their stride and answered with two goals of their own to go ahead. Midway thru the second period a rare penalty shot was given to Jordan B and he did not disappoint the fans by scoring to tie the game. The tie was short lived with Mitchell scoring three straight goals to go ahead 5 - 2. Even though the Mitchell team had more players, the Leslie Motors team won the third period with Noah L scoring his second of the game. However, that was all they could muster and the game ended 5-3 for Mitchell. Once again, Ryan G was great in net. Drew C played outstanding on defence along with Jayden L and Cody J. Thomas C, Michael M, Brett W, and Tristan Z all had chances on forward but could not find the back of the net. The Leslie Motors team will be looking for their first win of the season when they play Mount Forest on the road this Saturday.
