Notes
The Walkerton-Hanover Vet Clinic midget team, had to miss the Super Bowl to play against visiting Wiarton. With Chris Flett filling in as goalie for Jamie Al, the boys hit the ice flying, and had many good chances, in the first few shifts. Although that team kept the puck in the Wiarton end, thanks to the defensive work of Chad Paulitski, Evan Koller, Kalvin Reid, Christian Drofkie and Mark Zettler, they were unable to score for a good part of the period. Then with 3 minutes left in the period, Alex Dales put one in thanks to some great passing by Andy Dentinger, and Riley O’Hagan. The score remained the same throughout the bulk of the second period. Despite many nice plays by the line of BJ Oliver, Allan Rodgers, and Kurtis Flett, they were unable to beat the Wiarton goaltender and strengthen their lead. A little past the half way point in the second, Wiarton was able to get a shot past Flett. The score didn’t remain that way for long, as just a few shifts after, Dales netted his second of the game, once again assisted by Dentinger and O’Hagan. In the third, the line of Pat Koller, Steve Keip, and Mike Lindblad, did a very good job back checking, which paid off, when the boys finished with a 2-1 win. By Alex Dales
