Walkerton Minor Hockey Update
Submitted By Adam Batte on Tuesday, August 4, 2020
Walkerton Minor Hockey continues to plan for the 2020 return to play activities, based on the recommendations of local and provincial health authorities as well as Hockey Canada, OMHA, and OWHA.  We are working closely with our local municipality to build a safe and realistic approach to return to play.   The precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have caused all of us to make adaptations to our normal way of living, similarly for hockey we will need to adapt and plan to return to the ice for the 2020/21 season.

Based on the current situation, WMH expects to be starting its hockey season with hockey skills clinics for all minor hockey age divisions. These clinics will run until regular hockey returns and we as an executive have a clearer picture of recommendations and requirements.  These clinics will be offered to all age groups, more detailed information will come regarding the registration cost and season outlooks.

The clinics will be composed of skills and drills and will follow all COVID-19 protocols. They will not involve any games based on the current recommendations and will not be used as a method to select future teams (tryouts) when it is decided the 2020/21 hockey season begins. These clinics are to be a place where players can improve their skills and enjoy the game of hockey within the current COVID-19 protocols.

As the year to Transition from Skills to 3 on 3/4 on 4 and hopefully to a full season we will continue to provide an update to all the members.

A couple key information pieces to note:

1.     WMH Hockey registration survey (link Below) is to evaluate the number of participants we will expect and help us plan for the start of the season. This is extremely important to help organize the season so please take the time to fill         out the Survey (1 per child) and it's open until August 10 2020. A cost and formal registration update will follow in the coming weeks, after we have evaluated the survey result.

                 2.    WMH AGM will be postponed to a future date.  Any updates will be communicated once                                 confirmed.  If you’re interested in joining the Executive please contact one of our members for                             information.

                 3.    Communication of all updates will be critical in the upcoming months as this evolves.  WMH will                     use the website to keep current on all communications.  If there are questions or concerns please                         reach out to members of the executive
