Hinsperger faces 47 shots in 5-3 win
Walkerton goalie Ryan Hinsperger faced 47 shots on net in the Capitals’ recent 5-3 win over the Kincardine Kinucks #2.

The Walkerton players recorded 23 shots during the Dec. 9 road game. The bantam LL boys had a 3-0 lead going into the third period, with Brayden Grife scoring twice and Cobi Johnson adding one. Assists went to Scott McTeer (2) and Cayleb Peitz.

Walkerton and Kincardine traded goals early in the third, with McTeer scoring on a pass from Ryan Graul to make it 4-1. The Kinucks had a two-man advantage for 1:40, but the Capitals skated hard to run the clock down. Despite being short-handed, the Walkerton forwards knocked the puck loose and Johnson beat the Kincardine defence to put the Capitals ahead 5-1. Kincardine added two more before the final buzzer but Walkerton held on for the 5-3 win.

In action at home Dec. 11, the Capitals won their third regular season game in a row, beating the West Grey Warriors #1 by a 2-1 score. The Warriors got on the board first in the opening frame with Walkerton’s Kyle Rompf tying it up several minutes later, assisted by Johnson.

Luke Schmidt scored the game-winner near the end of the second, with help from Jacob Girdler. Forwards Tyler Wallace and Dylan Reay continued to press throughout the game, with solid defensive efforts by Aragon Karn, Xander Thornton, Tayt Weber and Liam Osborne.

The bantam boys are back on the ice Saturday, Dec. 15 when they play host to the West Grey Warriors 2 at 9 a.m. The Hanover Falcons then visit Walkerton on Monday, Dec. 17 for a 7:15 p.m. start.
