The fun started last Wednesday, when again, our guys faced off against Hanover, for the second time this season. While the game ended in Hanover's favor, this was a much different game than the last time our two groups met.

While the scoreboard still favored Hanover, our guys got into the dirty spots, they made good things happen and they battled for puck possession. We took away their space and created opportunities. Credit also to Spencer who danced around the blue paint like one who has been in the goalie role for a long time.

This past weekend, the WMHPW Rep team played in their first tournament, a large tournie with more than 20 teams, in St Clements. Game one put us up against Drayton, a team, with all due respect, we should have easily competed with. For the most part, our guys just couldn't get their heads in the game, and Drayton skated to a 4-1 victory.

In game two, Saturday morning, we faced off with South Kent, a team who even though were with us in the 'loser' bracket, were stronger than our last opponent. While some mistakes were made, Walkerton rose to this challenge. We lost 5-2, but it truly was more like a 3-2 hockey game.

Saturday afternoon we met up with a team believed to be our toughest opponent yet, the Oro Thunder. A win would have kept us in the tournament, and a loss would send us packing. Having watched their previous games, this Oro team played well together. They use one another, play all zones of the ice and are backed by good goaltending. But they weren't the only team motivated to play hockey. Our guys came out swinging this game, and played to the level of our opponents. We forced turnovers, we had some really nice breakouts, passing and offensive zone puck control. Just like his last game vs South Kent, Spencer did well between the pipes. In the end our three goals were not enough to move on, but it was a 'W' for us nonetheless.
