Playoff Game 6 vs. Owen Sound Red
The Walkerton Capitals would play host to the visiting Owen Sound Red on March 6, 2019.  It would be the first game in over a week for the Capitals and would feature a rematch of Walkerton’s last game.

The Capitals showed no signs of rust after its time off and would open the scoring just a minute and a half into the first period.  Strong work in the corners and in behind the Owen Sound net the puck would be sent back to the blue line where Chase Kaufman would fire a wrist shot that would find the back of the net, assisting on the goal were Kyle Graul and Matthew McNaughton.  Walkerton would continue to press in the Owen Sound zone and would again be rewarded when Kyle Graul would finish off a three way passing play with a high wrist shot just under the crossbar, assists were credited to Colby Schmidt and Matthew McNaughton.  Walkerton would lead 2-0 after the first period.

 

The scoring would continue in the second period when Connor Farrell jumped on a rebound and fired it into the open side of the net, assisting on the goal were Jack Walter and Ben Eddyvean.  Just thirty seconds later the Capitals would add another goal when Mason Lina tipped a shot from the point that would go five hole on the net-minder.  Cody McIntyre and Logan Bradley would be credited with the assists.  The Capitals would continue to storm the Owen Sound net and with just over six minutes remaining Jack Walter shot from the slot would beat the net-minder after taking a pass from Connor Farrell and Ben Eddyvean while on the power play.  Owen Sound would score two late goals to cut into the Walkerton lead but as the period wrapped up the Capitals would hold a 5-2 lead.

 

The third period would see Owen Sound come out quickly and pressure the Capitals in their own end.  With 9:15 left in the period would score to pull within a pair of goals of the Walkerton lead.  Walkerton would settle things down and gets back to its strong passing game.  Kyle Graul would score assisted by Shawn Lacey and Cody McIntyre.  The scoring would continue when Chase Kaufman would score his second of the game after take a pass from Ben Eddyvean in his own end and going in alone and lifting the puck into the top corner of the Owen Sound net. 

 

The Capitals would win in a game that was closer than the score would indicate.  Each team would have ample scoring opportunities but strong defensive play would help Walkerton preserve its victory.
