Game 19 vs. Shallow Lake Lakers #1
The Walkerton Capitals would plays its final regular season game on February 4th, 2019 against the Shallow Lake Lakers #1 team.  It would be Walkerton’s second trip in a week to Shallow Lake and the Capitals were hoping for a better result this time out.

During the first period both teams would each have some great scoring opportunities only to have the two goalies come up big with some outstanding saves.  The period would end in a scoreless draw.

During the second period the Capitals would strike early when only 20 seconds into the frame when Connor Farrell would get several cracks at a loose puck before it found the back of the net.  Jack Walter was credited with an assist on the play.  With just over 8 ½ minutes remaining Kyle Graul would take a hard shot towards the net but it would just miss the mark and hit the backboards and come straight back out and Kyle would fire the puck into the net.  The Lakers would then score to cut the Walkerton lead in half.  The Capitals would continue to press in the Lakers zone and Cody McIntyre would score top corner after taking a pass from Ben Eddyvean.  The Lakers would then score again with 2:21 remaining in the period to pull Shallow Lake back within a goal.  The scoring would continue when Kyle Graul would take a pass from Callum Dupuis and fire a hard wrist shot to record his second goal of the game with just over a minute remaining in the period.  Walkerton would lead 4-2 after two periods of play.

In the third period the scoring would continue when while short handed Kyle Graul would intercept a Lakers pass and go up the middle and in alone on the Shallow Lake net and beat the net-minder to complete the hat trick with his third goal of the game.  The Lakers would score while on a two man advantage to again to cut into the Walkerton lead.  The Capitals would score while on the power play when Cody McIntyre fired a shot from just inside the blue line that would find the back of the net.

The Capitals would play another strong game, the passing was tape to tape, the cycle game was exceptional with the forward dumping the puck and chasing it down throughout the game.  Again the defensive core was solid in front of its own goaltenders blocking several shots and holding the line while in the offensive zone.
