Playoffs Game #10 - Hanover Falcons
The Walkerton Capitals would play Game 10 of its playoff run and the final game of the 2017-2018 season on Saturday, March 12, 2018.  The game would be played in Hanover against the Falcons at the P&H Centre.

The game would be played at a slower pace than usual for both teams.  There would be no scoring in the first period but not for lack of trying.  It was just that the goaltending was that much better.

The second period would start with a flurry for Hanover who would score 30 seconds into the frame after a loose puck was tucked into the back of the net after a goal mouth scramble. Hanover would then take a 2-0 lead just 7 seconds later when a forward raced down the ice after the ensuing face off and score again.  The Capitals would respond a few moments later when Cayleb Peitz buried a low shot after taking a pass from Cobi Johnson.  The two teams would continue to go back and forth but it would be Hanover who would score with just over 5 minutes remaining.  Hanover would take a 3-1 lead into the third period.

The third period would see the play to be contained mainly to the neutral zone, each team would then take several penalties but neither would be able to take advantage while they were on the man advantage.  Hanover would score with 3:46 remaining after another goal mouth scramble.  The Capitals would then score with 33 seconds left when Cayleb Peitz recorded his second of the game, assisted by Tyler Wallace.  The goal cut the Hanover lead in half but that was as close Walkerton would come.  The Falcons would win the North Division and will now go onto face Goderich.

The team would come up just short in its playoff round.  Coming in second place overall.  Many years from now the boys won’t remember the scores, wins or loses they will, however, remember the great time they had with the rest of the team members making new friends and the seasons great moments.  A huge thanks must go to the coaching staff for all their hard work and commitment throughout the season.  Head Coach, Adam Batte, Trainer, Jason Brown and Bench Staff, Jeff Osborne, Steve Romphf, Grant Wallace and Trevor Filsinger.  Finally a big thanks to Lisa Hinsperger who as Team Manager got us into tournaments and kept everyone up to date with her weekly emails.
