Playoffs Game #5 vs. West Grey Warriors
The second game in as many days the Capitals travelled to Durham to play the West Grey Warriors on Sunday, February 18th, 2018.  The game would feature some strong skating and hard work by both teams.

The first period would see the Capitals control play early in the frame and would hit a goal post and a cross bar but would be unable to score.  The Warriors would also have their own scoring opportunities but Walkerton’s Ryan Hinsperger was solid in net. The Warrior would score with just 58 seconds remaining to take a 1-0 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.

The Capitals would continue to pressure the West Grey end and would be rewarded when Scott McTeer would fire a high wrist shot from the point that would beat the West Grey net-minder with 10:55 remaining.  The two teams would continue to battle back and forth throughout the remainder of the period but no further scoring would occur and the period would end in a 1-1 tie.

The third period would start and the Capitals would come out with an extra quickness to their game.  Walkerton’s Kyle Romphf would jump on a loose puck at the side of the net and bury it just over two minutes into the period to give the Capitals an early lead. Less than a minute later Ryan Graul centred a pass out front to Connor Farrell whose one timer found the back of the net.  Walkerton would continue to go to the net and again would be rewarded when Liam Osborne took a shot from the point was stopped but the rebound came directly out to Ryan Graul whose wrist shot went top corner.

The boys moved the puck well throughout the game and made the most of the opportunities that were presented to them.  The defence would play well in front of their own net and hold the blue line in the offensive zone with skill.  The forwards went to the net and moved the puck with tape to tape precision passing.  All players did a stellar job throughout the game with their back-checking.
