Playoffs Game #3 vs. AEMHA Ice Dogs
The Walkerton Capitals would travel to Paisley on February 14, 2018 to play the AEMHA Ice Dogs.  The game would feature end to end play and would be tightly contested from the opening puck drop.

The two teams would start the game at a fast pace.  Making the most of a strong skating game the Capitals would come close on its opening shift but strong goaltending by the Ice Dogs would keep the puck from crossing the goal line.  The Ice Dogs would open the scoring with 7:30 remaining in the first.  The two teams would continue to go up and down the ice but there would be no further scoring in the period and Arran-Elderslie would lead 1-0 after the first 10 minutes.

The second period again the pace of play was excellent, both teams would crash the net looking for an elusive goal.  Walkerton would score with 6:50 remaining when hard work and perseverance along the boards and in the corner would see the puck bounce around in front of the Ice Dogs net before Kyle Romphf would bury it behind the Ice Dogs goaltender, assists were credited to Keegan Batte and Cobi Johnson.  The tie would be short lived as Arran-Elderslie would score less than 2 minutes later.  The second period would end with the Ice Dogs holding a 2-1 lead.

The two teams returned for the third period and again it would be back and forth action.  The goaltenders would each face several good scoring opportunities but both were impressive in the nets.  Just past the half way point of the frame Kyle Romphf would score his second goal of the game after flipping the puck over the glove hand of the Arran-Elderslie net-minder after taking a centering pass from Cobi Johnson from behind the net.  The Ice Dogs would pull ahead for good 2 minutes later.  Walkerton would pull out all stops including pulling its goalie with 1:49 remaining.  The extra attacker would not be enough as the Ice Dog players would block shots and clear its defensive zone on several occasions.

While not the results Walkerton had been looking for they should take solice in the fact that they played a spirited game, work hard along the boards and in the corners as stated before there are still lots of hockey to be played and the boys would get a rematch against the same team in its next game.
